Crazy Hair!

So a couple days ago I found a fun youtube hair tutorial: HERE!
(I know, it's in Japanese, I can't understand a word from it either! But she does such good job on showing, so I totally understand the steps)

Then, I showed it to a friend who does not care about doing hair at all and I was informed about Lady GaGa having the similar hair style!

(The picture is from http://justjared.buzznet.com/)

So, tell me, would anyone try this hair style and go out looking like this? Don't get me wrong, I think this is totally fun but I just don't know when I would ever be able to do this!

Lip Products

(The colors in these pics are not so true to color due to the lighting, so try to go on their websites to see more accurate swatches)

So these are some of my favorite lip products. I have mostly natural colors except for a couple. Now I'm gonna tell you why I love them.

  • Revlon Beyond Natural Cream Lip gloss (Berry, Rosy) - they are super moisturizing! And like the name, yep, very natural! They give you a natural glow on your lips! So try them out when there is buy one get one free at the drugstores! The deals I found this week for Revlon Products: buy 1 get 1 50% off at CVS and Walgreens, and I think the buy 2 get 1 free is still going on at Ulta.
  • Chanel Levres Scintillante Glossimer (constellation) - super shimmery peachy pink. looks great on top of any other lip stick! I also have another color but that one doesn't have any sparkle in it... but constellation is a limited edition color... if you like it they still have something similar to it. It is a sticky formula, but I don't care! The colors are gorgeous and stay on quite long.
  • Givenchy Rouge Interdit Shine (19 very irresistible shine) - haha I love it because it's sparkly! the glitter in this color is soooooo awesome. I believe this color is a limited edition, and you can buy it (if not, the other shades) at Sephora.
  • MAC Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolour (boss brown) - I am not a big fan of MAC lipglass somehow, I guess it's because I don't own enough to fall in love with them, but they do have lots of colors to choose from. Now this longwear one is my first longwear lip color, and this color is a bit darker than the ones I usually buy, but I am impressed! This shade makes me look a bit more mature, and stays on very well! It's a great helper when I am going to parties, weddings, which I would be drinking (I didn't mean alcohol, FYI) ... and I, personally, hate to touch up every single moment, then so it's very handy!
  • Revlon Matte Lipstick (nude attitude) - I LOVE IT. I have been looking for a nude shade that does not make me look dead! And I'VE FOUND IT! It conceals my super pigmented lips and gives me that non-deadly look. This color is from a new collection so it's kinda hard to find... I went to a few stores before I found it, but it's SO WORTH IT. Now I have to do smoky eyes because of this hahaha.
  • L'oreal Colour Richie (target red) - I only wore it once, because I am not so brave to wear red on a daily basis. This particular shade is only sold at target, which is the RED I have in mind, GORGEOUS. (I wore this to the Halloween party hosted by my boss, I was a ladybug)
  • Lorac Mocktail (guava tiki) - this is a cute color! It smells very good, not too sweet, and makes my lips feel GOOD. I like to use it alone or on top of other lip color.
  • L'oreal HIP Jelly Balm (succulent) - it smells like vanilla (to me, it does) and the color is a very cute pink! (and again, these products go on sale a lot, so, why not try them?)
  • Canmake lip concealer - this is a japanese drugstore product, very very cheap, but it is not sold in the United States unfortunately. I had a friend bought it for me from Taiwan, and this is very handy. Since I have very pigmented lips, a lot of colors don't show and just look like regular lipgloss, which is a waste. So I use this concealer which is made for the lips, then layer on the shade than I want, then the true color would show! Plus the spokesperson of this brand is a model from my favorite Japanese magazine VIVI, so it makes the brand more attractive!
Alright, I think I should stop right here. I have been babbling on for too long. If you think my posts get too long, let me know!

My Fav Eye Brushes

I have brushes from different brands, including MAC, Clinique, Sephora, and Coastal Scents. Buying brushes is an expensive thing to do, I didn't buy them all at once! Depending on how much you would like to spend, the brands of the brushes would be one important thing to consider.

My Fav Mac brushes
  • 263 (only sold at pro stores) - great for precise lines. I use it with powder shadow, gel or cream liners
  • 266 - I use it to fill in my eyebrows with MAC brow shader (brow powder)
  • 214 - a new brush that just came out, a smudger brush. I like it because it makes eye shadows go on more intense
  • 224 - crease brush, I bought it before the 226 came out, it's awesome for eye socket and nose contour. It also helps to put a light coat of under brow highlight
  • 226 - another new brush that came out with the 214, it's a smaller version of a crease brush, which works great for smaller eyes or more precise outcome
If you are looking for more basic brushes, such as shader brush (for all over lids), MAC has these brush sets. They are often limited edition products, usually come out around in summer (usually only at Nordstrom) and in winter for the holidays. Those are GREAT BUYS because for around 40 dollars, you will be getting 5 brushes, which are normally sold for $20 - 30 a piece!

Sephora also has great brush sets, for instant, the vanity brush set has the more pro eye brushes which are similar to the MAC 214 and a mixture of the 224 and 226.

My Fav Sephora Brush
  • All over shadow brush #22 (I think this is the one I have, since I bought mine in a set YEARS ago) - I love the size of it! It's just right for my lids!

MAC and Sephora brushes are awesome, but if you are on a budget, there are a lot of options as well. Costal Scents has some nice ones too. I bought the 13 pc brush set, $16.95, which includes medium shader brush which I use for lid colors, and the larger shader brush for brow highlight.

My Fav Coastal Scents Brushes
  • Chisel detail mini brush - I use it for more detail use of shadow. Since it's so tiny, you can use it for smudging your pencil eyeliner, place powder eye shadow close to the lash line as eyeliner, or on bottom lash line.
  • Chisel fluff medium brush - I love it! It is not super fluffy, but just enough to let shadow glides on with good color payoff, plus I love the size! Again, just right for my lids! Since the handle is short, it's great for traveling. Fits perfectly in my makeup bag.
  • A couple brushes from the 13 pc brush set as I have mentioned above.
My Fav Clinique Brush and Accessory
  • Makeup brush cleanser - A MUST HAVE. I use it to clean up my brushes - if you don't clean up your brushes, you would mix up the colors that are in already in them, and have them look dirty on your face. Plus, cleaning your brushes regularly can prevent breakout.
  • Eye liner brush - I use it for the same purpose as my Coastal Scents mini brush, which is for detail use of shadows, plus since this one is a dense one, I use it for gel liner as well.
Another way to apply your shadow would be with your own fingers. Of course, make sure they are CLEAN because of your delicate eyes. Applying eye shadow with fingers let you be able to feel the shape of your eyes, plus the colors would go on smoothly with the warmth of your fingers. (Learned that from a Taiwanese show called Queen. If you know how to read Chinese, Kevin's blog is great to follow!)

AND OOOOOOPPPPPPSSSSS. I totally forgot to mention my awesome lash curler. It's Shu Uemura, you can get it at Sephora, Neiman Marcus, or on the Shu Uemura website.  I like it because the curve is not too big, fits my eye perfectly!

Warm bronzy eyes with a tropical twist

I have small eyes, so a lot of times I can't really fit tons of colors on my eyelids... This look allows me to keep the fun rainbow, tropical colors while my eyelids are simple and natural without too much going on.

Products used:
Eyes
Shu Uemura Brow Pencil (hard formula) in seal brown
MAC brow shader in walnut
MAC paintpot in Bare Study
Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box
  • honey
  • shag
  • ransom
  • peace
Covergirl Eye enhancers 4-kit shadows in Tropical Fusion (used the orange)
Maybelline XXL Extensions XX-Treme Length Microfiber Mascara (the black and gold tube)
Lancome Hypnose Mascara

Face
Napoleon Perdis Concealer
MAC mineralize skin finish duo in Medium
Nars blush in Orgasm

Lips
Very Sexy lipgloss in cupcake (Heidi Klum Collection)
Revlon lipstick in just enough buff

First, paintpot was use as a base

So I used honey, which is a yellow gold, on my inner half of my lids
blend shag, the orange, bronzy color on my outer half of my lids and let it overlap honey so there wouldn't be any harsh line. Then blend the orange color from the covergirl palette (it is less shimmery) on the outer V so the the orange color is a but more intense.

now on the bottom, I chose to use make my lower lash line colorful, so I used ransom,  peace, and honey

ack. IT IS HARD to explain this makeup thing with words. Perhaps making videos is a good idea... I will consider that.

F.Y.I. Shadow primer is a must for me, but somehow I had forgotten to use it before I did my makeup today! ARGHHHH! My fav products would be Too Face Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion.
